Chicken rice bowl

Incredibly tasty chicken rice bowl,
Oyakodon is definitely worth trying!!

In Japanese, Oyakodon or chicken rice bowl
literally means "parent and child rice bowl".
Why? it's because the dish uses both chicken
and egg to create.

Generally Oyakodon contains Chicken, egg,
Spring Onion (green onion) and steam rice.
It's very tasty chicken and rice recipe that
is pretty easy and quick as well.

Oyakodon rice bowl


  • 200 g of chicken breast sliced
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of Japanese soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 onion halved and sliced
  • 1 spring onion chopped into 1 inch pieces
  • 4 tablespoons of chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 2 bowls of steam rice (enough for 2 people)


1 Heat up an oil in a pan in high heat then stir chicken pieces
in and fry until the chicken is half cooked and set it aside.

2 Heat up the same pan again, add oil and start frying onion
until it's brown.

3 Add soy sauce, sugar, spring onion and chicken then continue stirring for few seconds.

4 Break 2 eggs into a bowl and beat it lightly.
Pour the beaten eggs on to the chicken and onion
then spread it all over the chicken and onion (do not stir it).

5 Add stock, cover and simmer for just over a minute or until the egg is cooked.Then separate it into two potions and place them on top of each rice bowls. Serve hot
